Leading luxury travel company Abercrombie & Kent has just released its new Latin America portfolio of luxury private journeys to Mexico, Cuba, Guatemala & Honduras, Costa Rica, Ecuador & the Galapagos, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, Uruguay, Chile and Argentina – journeys that are brimming with ancient sites and modern spectacles, extraordinary and breath-taking landscapes, unique and rare wildlife, plus colourful cultures, flavoursome cuisine and a magic unmatched anywhere else in the world.
The collection offers an almost limitless number of options for travelling in style throughout Latin America putting all that makes this extraordinary continent at centre stage. There are 15 ready-to-book private journeys mapped out in the brochure for individual travellers. These are the result of in-depth research by A&K's Product professionals, consultation with its team of Travel Specialists, meticulous design and planning and 'in destination' co-ordination. They are tried and tested and present each destination in the best possible manner, in seamless style and comfort, whilst ensuring that travellers have inspiring experiences and authentic local encounters in the places they visit.
While the day-by-day journeys presented in the portfolio showcase each locale in style and with flair, A&K guests are not limited by this selection. “This year”, A&K's Latin America Product Manager, Brett Lemish tells us, “we're giving travellers the tools to customise their own made-to-measure journeys. We're featuring lists of the foremost sights and locations in each area, some different activities and insider opportunities to consider, a wider range of hand-picked accommodation choices and ideas for extending a journey to gain a deeper appreciation of the place. These ideas provide the inspiration for our guests to develop their own bespoke journey in close consultation with our expert Travel Specialists.”
The sorts of captivating opportunities which can be included in a bespoke journey include a chef-led market visit and cooking class in Lima, ziplining through the forest in Costa Rica, a coffee baptism in Colombia, engaging with an artist in their studio, an Air Stream camper experience on the salt flats of Bolivia, a behind-the-scenes Carnival encounter in Rio and much, much more.
New ready-to-book private journeys include the week-long Highlights of Peru itinerary which gives guests the key to one of Lima's grandest old homes, lets them stroll the cobblestone streets of Cusco and nearby Inca sites while bedding down in a former convent then journeying to Machu Picchu on board the luxury Belmond Hiram Bingham train. Prices start from $5,795 per person.
Recommendations for extending in the region include a selection of Amazon cruises, the Nazca Lines and Paracas Peninsula, mysterious Kuelap in Peru's north and an elevated journey on Belmond Andean Explorer through the altiplano between Cusco and Arequipa.
In the Galapagos Islands, the newly built Camila trimaran makes its debut and is recommended for its intimacy, offering only eight spacious staterooms each with ensuite and private balcony. Naturalist guides conduct beguiling shore excursions taking guests up close to the archipelago's extraordinary wildlife which so inspired Charles Darwin.
Down south, the new 15-day Treasures of Argentina journey captivates travellers with the soul of the Pampa at a laidback estancia, cosmopolitan class and cuisine in the sophisticated capital, plus the world-class vineyards of Mendoza, thundering Iguazu Falls and the colonial delights and colours of Salta and its mesmerising surrounds. Prices start from $13,995 per person.
Bespoke ideas in Chile and Argentina include private tango lessons, expeditionary cruises, glacier hikes, outdoor adventures, chef's dinners and desert glamping.
In Central America, a new 13-day private journey through Mexico follows in the footsteps of legends revealing ancient jungle-swathed cities, artworks by revered painters, extraordinary flavours from renowned chefs and unique spirits from celebrated distillers. Prices for A&K's Mexico: Cities of the Sun journey from $12,995 per person.
With its local networks, expert guides and support on the ground right throughout Latin America, an A&K journey captures the heart and soul of this exciting and energetic part of the world, whether on one of its published itineraries or a customised bespoke journey with special access to events and experiences that put the traveller in the front seat or behind the scenes.
For those preferring to travel in a small group, there are also four journeys taking no more than 18 guests each to Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador. These are presented in-depth, along with more travel ideas, on A&K's website.
