The Barley Hound Reopens with Brand-New Look & Menu After Renovation
The Barley Hound, a Prescott staple and the city's first gastropub, has reopened after nearly a year's remodeling closure to unveil the first phase of a renovation that boasts a refreshed look with a new menu. Located within a Victorian-style home that dates back to the early 1900s, The Barley Hound is a favorite amongst locals and travelers and is likely one of the only chef-driven restaurants in Arizona where you can listen to the Ghetto Boys while ordering bone marrow, duck-fat fries and an innovative craft cocktail. Guests can expect a mixture of the most popular classic Barley Hound creations from the past as well as seasonal selections. The restaurant boasts al fresco dining with both front yard and backyard areas, which have been reimagined to accommodate more guests. Other improvements include expanding indoor seating by 30%, a larger bar area, and a new kitchen. The second phase of the renovation, expected to be completed this fall, will see the reopening of the back patio area and full-bar housed in a shipping container. To help meet demand, reservations are available for the first time through OpenTable. The Barley Hound is located at 234 South Cortez Street in Prescott and is a short two-block walk from the famed Whiskey Row. Now open Thursday through Sunday with limited hours, view TheBarleyHound.com for the latest updates.

Restored FDNY Rescue-4 rig now resides at the Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting
The Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting in Phoenix celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, and one of the special events of the year was the return of the recently restored FDNY Rescue-4 rig to the museum's permanent collection. Almost three years ago, retired FDNY firefighter, Robert Allen – formerly of Engine 232 – purchased the original 1996 HME/Saulsbury FDNY Rescue-4 rig and graciously donated it to the Hall of Flame under the condition that it would never be used for anything but a museum display. When Rescue-4 responded to the tragedy at the World Trade Center on 9/11, it carried a crew of eight. All died when the towers collapsed. Knowing the devastating impact of that tragic event and the emotional magnitude and importance that this rig holds for firefighters everywhere -- especially for those who served with the FDNY -- The Hall of Flame is more than honored that this precious piece of history was entrusted to them. For the last two years, many volunteers began the slow and arduous process of restoring the rig back to the exact way it looked on that fateful day in September of 2001. They have provided endless sources of information, knowledge, and guidance throughout this restoration. The Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting, the world's largest museum dedicated to this profession, is sponsored and supported by the National Historical Fire Foundation and is home to more than 100 pieces of restored fire apparatus dating as far back as 1725. From America to England, France, Germany, Austria, and even as far as Japan, the museum's influence has truly spanned the globe. The museum also houses the National Hall of Heroes Gallery, which honors either decorated firefighters or those who have died in the line of duty.

Dale Chihuly makes a dramatic return to the Sonoran Desert for Chihuly in the Desert
Dale Chihuly will once again be featured in the Phoenix metropolitan area on December 3, 2021 with a new exhibition at two of Arizona's most iconic venues - Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix and Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West in Scottsdale. Chihuly in the Desert will run through June 18, 2022 combining art, architecture and nature, and set against majestic saguaros, landmark buildings and striking Papago buttes.
Chihuly in the Desert showcases Dale Chihuly's large-scale glass installations nestled among the Garden's collection of desert plants. Installations on the Garden's trails to be complemented by a major indoor gallery in Dorrance Hall, and include never-before-seen pieces.
At Taliesin West, installations will be inside the building, on the lawns, floating on the water, and emerging from the desert, pairing the work of two masters in a way that has never been done. Wright's Taliesin West is an ideal backdrop for exploring the elements and principles of design, present in both Chihuly's sculptures and Wright's architecture.
