Longstone Cottage, Isle of Wight – a big country cottage

Butler's Apartment, Florence Court, County Fermanagh – a stately stay

Coastguard Cottage 2, Clovelly, Devon – a coastal hideaway

A few minutes stroll from the pebbly and rocky foreshore of Peppercombe beach, this row of three cottages is hidden away in the beautiful secluded woods of the Peppercombe valley. The cottages were traditionally built out of cob in the late eighteenth century, to house the officers of what was then called the Preventive Service - tasked with policing this wild stretch of coast to prevent smuggling - and later evolved into the lifesaving Coastguard Service. Wonderfully snug and picturesque, these cottages make ideal bases from which to explore this fascinating and little known coast.

Penrhyn Mawr, Anglesey

This former farmhouse, located next to a working farm is an ideal base for exploring Anglesey, it is located just 1 mile from Cemaes Bay, a beautiful sandy beach and a village with pubs and small shops. The cottage has plenty of downstairs living space and is ideal for a small family. In addition there is a an upstairs reading room with a day bed for relaxation. The garden is unenclosed but offers a slate patio with bench seating and a table. There are fantastic views from the back garden out to sea.

Penhaligon's, Roseland, Cornwall – a thatched cottage just for two

You cannot get much picture-postcard-prettier than Penhaligon's. This thatched cottage, with its white washed walls, exposed beam and wood burning stove is tucked away in leafy seclusion down a narrow track. The delights of Towan Beach are just five minutes' walk from the cottage and a perfect place to relax. The combination of cliffs, creeks, estuaries, headlands, woods and beaches linked by many miles of footpath, gives a fantastic variety of walking routes.

Penarvon Cabin, Helston, Cornwall

This romantic little wooden cabin perches amongst trees on a low bluff above Penarvon Cove, on the outskirts of Helford village. Below you, the waters of the Helford lap at the shore and birds feed on the incoming tide, close by are the popular pub and post office in the village and the ferry to the northern bank. A circular walk behind the cabin leads through woodland and past the commemorative chapel of St Francis on the water's edge.
