New York, NY (April 23, 2020) – More than 500 media, PR pros, and industry professionals logged in for TravMedia's first webinar in the U.S. as part of the global series 'Travel PR During Coronavirus'.
The panel discussion moderated by TravMedia's Founder and CEO, Nick Wayland, saw top U.S. travel editors, PR professionals, and influential industry leaders share their perspectives on the current state of the industry.
Panelists included Arnie Weissman, Editor in Chief of Travel Weekly and Executive Vice President/Editorial Director of Northstar Travel Group; Los Angeles Times Travel Editor Catharine Hamm; Elizabeth Harryman, Travel Editor of Westways and six AAA publications; Jacqueline Gifford, Editor in Chief of Travel + Leisure. Representing the PR perspective, Laura Davidson, President Laura Davidson PR and Tori Emerson Barnes, Executive Vice President, Public Affairs and Policy, U.S. Travel Association.
"We launched the TravMedia Webinar Series to provide a platform for information and idea-sharing among our media, public relations, and travel industry members and peers as we all try to navigate these unprecedented times for our industry,” Founder & CEO, Nick Wayland said.
“There are too many takeaways and insights from today's top-tier panelists to quote individually, so we encourage you to watch the webinar recording yourselves, which we have made available to view on a complimentary basis, in support of the industry.“
Today's webinar was the third in TravMedia's global webinar series, with valuable insights shared last week from top-tier panelists in both the Australian and UK markets. Recordings for each available here:

In a press announcement last week, Wayland said, "With travel restrictions now in place around the globe, we're in a niche position to create a virtual meeting place for PR professionals, editors, and freelancers to talk about surviving the coronavirus. After SARS and bird flu, we saw a massive resurgence in travel once these two epidemics were brought under control, and we must be ready for the wave of travel popularity to return. We know that once we can travel again, PR will play an extremely vital role in getting the word out.”
The next roundtable in the new TravMedia Webinar Series will be held in Asia following today's topic.
TravMedia will also launch a series of one-on-one interviews with the world's most influential thought leaders in the travel industry.
Future U.S. webinars will focus on Luxury Travel being the first to rebound with interesting insights and anecdotes from key industry thought leaders, followed by a deep dive on National and International Tourism Boards where we will learn how each destination plans to recover from COVID-19.
