Easter Week or 'Holy Week' is one of the most spectacular celebrations of the year in Spain with many towns and cities along the Camino de Santiago playing host to a number of fascinating and impressive processions.

Whether it's colourful floats in Seville or re-enactments of the stations of the cross in Fisterra, each one of these processions will give you a fantastic glimpse into the traditional Easter celebrations in Spain.

See below for the CaminoWays.com top 5 Camino places to visit at Easter time:

Seville

Easter is one of Seville's most important and traditional events, along with the city's other famopus celebration Feria de Abril. Seville is the starting point of the Via de la Plata and has one the most impressive Holy Weeks in Spain.

Ferrol

Ferrol is the starting point of the English Way. The city's maritime and military traditions bring a unique element to its Easter celebrations. In particular, visitors should look out for the Caladiños (the silent ones) paso and the Good Friday procession.

Santiago de Compostela

The final destination of the Camino de Santiago is home to a wonderful Easter week celebration. Processions of religious imagery take to the beautiful streets of Santiago's Old Town and are truly a sight to behold. Santiago's thirteen religious brotherhoods march the ancient stone streets to the rhythm of drums.

Lugo

With the best preserved Roman wall in Europe, Lugo, on the Original Way, is a stunning city to take in the Easter Week celebrations. Holy Week processions take place in the city's Old Town which provides the perfect backdrop to its traditional Easter processions.

Fisterra

With its maritime feel, Easter week in Finisterre on the Finisterre Way is a truly wonderful experience. On Easter Sunday, the resurrection is re-enacted outside of the church of Santa María das Areas, home to the Holy Christ of the Golden Beard.
