4,000 Motorhomes to Meet in Albuquerque

Albuquerque Convention & Visitors Bureau

Nearly 4,000 motorhomes will gather in the Albuquerque area for the Family Motor Coach Association's (FMCA) 71st International Convention March 16-18 at EXPO New Mexico and Balloon Fiesta Park. The FMCA convention, "Albuquerque Adventure" is expected to attract nearly 15,000 people and bring in approximately $6.1 million in direct spending. FMCA participants will tour through New Mexico, so the benefits will be seen statewide. The Family Motor Coach Association, an international organization for motorhome owners is based in Cincinnati and currently has more than 128,000 active member families. The confab at EXPO New Mexico is one of two that the FMCA will hold this year. The group will also meet in Redmond, Oregon, in August. Recent motorhome conventions were held in Buffalo, New York and Pomona, California.

An FMCA convention includes a sizeable motorhome exhibition, with major motorhome manufacturers and dealers from across the country displaying hundreds of coaches. Approximately 800 motorhomes will be on display, along with approximately 500 booths featuring RV components and accessories. Area residents will have the opportunity to view the motorhomes that will be on display and visit the booth exhibits.

Display hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on March 16, 17, and 18. Exhibition displays open 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. daily. Exhibition admission $8.00 per day (tax included). Children 12 and under are free with an accompanying adult. A Daily Passport is available for $36.00 (tax included), which includes exhibit, seminar and entertainment access. Public parking will be available at EXPO New Mexico. Enter through Gate 8 off Louisiana Boulevard. On Monday, March 15, area residents who are interested in learning more about the RV lifestyle are invited to attend a special viewing of motorhomes from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by the seminar for non-RV owners, "Before You Buy Your First Motorhome" from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at EXPO New Mexico in the African-American Pavilion. The cost to view the motorhomes on this evening is $8.00 per person (tax included), which includes the seminar. Monday's admission ticket is good on Tuesday, March 16, as well.
