Phuket King's Cup, Asia Superyacht Rendezvous and Gourmet Christmas Dining start new traditions at 5-star hideaway on Kata Beach
Phuket's new ultra luxury resort Kata Rocks is transforming into a mini-Monaco through the festive season, from the King's Cup regatta through to Christmas as a party venue for the super yacht set.
With its eye-catching nautical design, the exclusive new boutique resort has the only jetty on Kata Beach for racing and leisure boats to moor on its doorstep or anchor offshore.
The resort has its own yacht enabling guests to watch the annual Phuket King's Cup regatta close-up from the water from November 29 – December 6.
From December 16–18 Kata Rocks is also the event host for the Asia Superyacht Rendezvous, when Phuket welcomes super yacht owners, captains, crews and VIP guests from all over the world for an exclusive 3 day event gathering together some of the most luxurious and extravagant superyachts in the region. The resort is the anchorage for visitors as well as the venue for a VIP Gala Dinner celebrating the cosmopolitan nautical gathering.
Kata Rocks continues this new tradition into the height of the festive season, inviting luxury yacht owners to anchor for a classy Christmas Eve dinner and family sundown BBQ with live jazz on Christmas Day.
Christmas Eve Dinner is a gastronomic 4-course feast on December 24 priced at THB 3,800.
The menu starts with amuse bouche gingerbread prawn, saffron & lime crème fraiche, followed by a choice of organic pumpkin & smoked tomato soup or chicken broth with turkey & cranberry ravioli.
Appetiser is duck terrine, foie gras & stone fruits with crisp breads & apple cherry chutney, or smoked and cured Scottish salmon, beetroot jelly and organic greens.
Champagne and ginger sorbet with cherry caviar introduces main course choices of crispy spiced barramundi with shaved fennel and champagne citrus salad, or traditional Christmas ham & turkey with sage & bacon stuffing, cranberry jam and roast veggies.
Dessert is traditional Christmas pudding with brandy custard, cherry compote and vanilla-gingerbread ice cream, or nougat parfait macerated fruits & spiced honey wafer, with coffee or tea and petit fours.
Christmas Day Family Sundown BBQ showcases a feast of interactive buffet stations, complete with live jazz, children's entertainment, ice-cream stand and Christmas presents, priced THB 2,800.
The buffet features a cosmopolitan spread of western and Thai antipasti, organic salads and cold cuts, a Seafood Station with house-cured salmon, oysters, lobster and yum woon sen talay seafood salad.
On the BBQ Station are salmon steaks, whole grilled snapper, garlic prawns, Phuket lobster, calamari, Esaan-style chicken wings, rib eye, chilli duck, baby back ribs and gourmet sausages – plus BBQ potatoes, vegetable kebabs and Corn on the Cob.
'Christmas Cravings' feature traditional roast turkey & cranberry jam, honey-baked ham with roasted spiced oranges, and stone fruit muffins.
Completing the fiesta is a Dessert Station with Christmas pudding & brandy custard, baby pavlova, gingerbread cookies mince tartlets, 'flourless' chocolate cake, fruit & vanilla cream trifle and fresh fruit.
For those celebrating at home, Kata Rocks is also preparing Christmas Hampers for up to ten guests with a traditional roast turkey dinner and 'all the trimmings'.
Priced THB 16,000 with pre-ordering required at least 48 hours in advance, the hamper also includes dessert of Christmas pudding & brandy custard, festive season cookies and fresh fruit.
