Flights from £99 to the US and Canada also available from London and Bristol
WOW air, Iceland's ultra-low-cost airline, is currently offering flights from London to Reykjavik for just £39¹ for selected travel dates from January to April next year.
Those that know Iceland well will be familiar with the unpredictable weather. In typical Icelandic fashion, the Nordic nation has found a way to make good use of the blistery days with Stormhike – a tour run by Iceland Expeditions that seeks out the roughest weather Iceland can muster.
Starting out with a visit to the Search & Rescue station to familiarise the group with the safety procedures and current weather conditions, participants are also given clothing to protect from the elements. The hike then takes to the windswept landscape of the Reykjavik area with an hour's guided journey before taking refuge in a natural shelter for something warm. If there's no natural shelter in sight then the guides will lead the group to create a shelter using the environment and equipment from the Search & Rescue station. For more info visit www.stormhike.com.
In addition, transatlantic flights from WOW air's latest UK departure point, Bristol, continue to be available from just £99 for selected dates ranging from May to September. In addition there are flights available from London Gatwick to North American destinations from just £99 one way.
Flights from Bristol run three days a week (Mon, Wed, Fri) to Reykjavik connecting with routes to Boston, Baltimore-Washington, Montreal and Toronto. Flights commence in May 2016.
