Gullah Corridor

The Gullah Corridor of the South Carolina coast is a landscape rich with tradition, stretching from the Sea Islands of the Lowcountry to the northern border of the state. Stemming from the 18th century, when West Africans were brought to this region and enslaved on Southern plantations, the Gullah culture is still very much alive in the Lowcountry, and its historical landmarks remain popular tourist attractions today.
