KE Adventure Travel is announcing its 2020 project with long-standing partner The Juniper Trust to help contribute towards the rebuild of schools in Nepal. Together with Cotswold Outdoor, KE will be helping to fundraise £20,000 to provide the supplies and labour needed to rebuild Vidhyadatri Khaptel school, 1 of 20 schools to be rebuilt by 2020 in a landmark project. Situated in a remote village near the rural region of Jiri between Kathmandu and Lukla, the school was just one of many to have suffered as a result of the 2015 earthquake.

Since 2015, The Juniper Trust has been able to use its direct contacts built from over 20 years of working in Nepal to focus on reconstructing damaged schools, targeting remote areas that would otherwise receive little help. In just over three years, 14 schools have now been rebuilt and a hostel for blind students in Kathmandu reconstructed. This has been an incredible achievement thanks to the hard work from volunteers and donations which have been gratefully received.

Building on this success, The Juniper Trust pledged to continue working and hit the target of building 6 more schools by 2020, helping over 3000 children in the process, and contribute £2000 per school toward uniforms and equipment too.

Full details of the project and fundraising so far

Glenn Rowley, KE founder and a trustee of the Juniper Trust says;

“We have just completed the first of three schools we hope to rebuild in Nepal this year as part of our 20 schools by 2020 appeal. Our 16th school since the earthquake in 2015 is in the in the remote village of Rawa Dolu, close to Jiri on the original trek to Everest basecamp.  Its three classrooms will be used by the 60 children in the village who have been using tin shelters since the earthquake just over 4 years ago. Work will now begin on a second school based in Vidhyadatri Village which, with the support of KE Adventure Travel and Cotswold Outdoor, we hope to complete by the end of October. The Juniper Trust is trying to raise £50,000 to pay for the three schools in 2019 and 100% of all donations received will go directly to the projects. What is great is that 50% of this goes to the local labourers from the village – a much needed source of income, it's a win win for the village and the children”.

Show your support to the projects and help fundraise

Founded in 1994, the Juniper Trust is the work of a group of volunteers, inspired by the work of writer and teacher Angela Locke. Since those early beginnings, JT has grown and supported many worthwhile projects across the world, but its basic vision remains the same as it was at the start: to work in a low-impact, sustainable way to support the poorest communities, particularly children, listening to community needs in the developing world. JT is 100% run by volunteers, so all donations go direct to the places they are needed most.

KE Adventure Travel has supported the Juniper Trust since its inception when it first helped raise £35,000 to pipe clean drinking water in the remote village of Baltistan in Northern Pakistan. In Nepal, throughout the years KE has raised over £240,000 for the Juniper Trust.
