In 1865, Afternoon Tea at The Langham, London was first served. To celebrate this 149 year milestone The Langham, Melbourne's Aria Bar & Lounge will host an afternoon tea with a twist on Wednesday 11 June at 3pm.
In 1865, guests at Afternoon Tea paid the equivalent of 20 cents today. On 11 June 20 fashion-savvy guests in Melbourne will pay that same tiny amount to each to enjoy the daily, ritual that is upheld at every Langham around the globe.
This unique celebratory Afternoon Tea will include Langham favourites such as ribbon sandwiches, fresh scones served with jam and cream, chocolate strawberries, candied fruit cake, miniature lemon curd tarts, strawberry éclairs, Champagne truffles and a cookie inspired by Coco Chanel.
Melbourne guests will enjoy the unique local luxury of a specially created dessert made by Darren Purchese from South Yarra's acclaimed Burch & Purchese.
