14 Broadway Shows Reach Out to the Travel Industry Through the Award-Winning Broadway Marketing Co-Operative

The Broadway Collection

Fourteen (14) of Broadways biggest musical attractions have joined together to form the 2004-2005 Broadway Marketing Co-operative, the theatre industrys largest combined marketing program directed at the tour and travel market. Participating shows include Aida, Avenue Q, Beauty and the Beast, Bombay Dreams, Chicago, Dracula, 42nd Street, Fame, Hairspray, Little Shop of Horrors, Rent, The Lion King, The Phantom of the Opera, and The Producers.

The Broadway Marketing Co-op provides an aggressive sales outreach program directed at building both consumer and group sales to Broadway shows, by bringing information on the participating shows to major market leaders such as tour operators, group leaders, destination management companies, and receptive operators, as well as Broadway-bound consumers.

Broadway.com and Theatre Direct International provide the theatre industrys most comprehensive sales and promotion opportunities. Broadway.com attracts the largest audience of any theatre-related website on the internet, with over 225,000 unique visitors per month. This innovative service includes news, feature stories, photographs from the red carpet on opening nights, reviews, and a round-up of critical reaction to the shows which open on the Great White Way.

Throughout the year, the fourteen Co-op shows are represented at travel and trade shows around the world, from major events such as the American Bus Associations Pow Wow convention to individual client visits with major group ticket buyers. By creating this collaborative sales endeavor, the participants collectively reach a broader and deeper ticket-buying audience than any show could manage independently. The effectiveness of the Marketing Co-op has been proven during its extraordinary growth over the past five seasons; the new -2005 Co-op year runs from April 1, 2004 through March 30, 2005.

Broadway.com / theatre Direct President Matt Kupchin stated, The Broadway Marketing Co-op is at the forefront of building audiences worldwide for Broadway. We are dedicated to the idea that every traveler coming to New York will see a Broadway show.
