Canada Day in the Capital, Ottawa, July 1st, 2017

It goes without saying that the nations capital will be centre stage for the celebrations marking Canada's 150th Birthday. There are events on Parliament Hill and throughout downtown Ottawa to mark the occasion.

Canada Day, Vancouver, July 1st, 2017

Welcoming close to 1 million people each year, Canada Place in Vancouver hosts the largest Canada Day celebration outside of Ottawa and 2017 marks the 30th anniversary of this event in Vancouver. This extended 3 day celebration will include a Canadian Forces zone, citizenship ceremony, Youth Zone, Food Trucks and of course, a firework show, with more highlights planned for the 150th birthday of Canada.

Rendez-vous 2017 and Tall Ships Festival

Rendez-vous 2017 is a naval celebration of Canada's 150th, with more than 40 tall ships from around the world sailing to arrive in Quebec City on July 18th. It is the main rallying point in a transatlantic race covering 11,000 km. The sailing ships set sail from Greenwich , London on April 13th. After visiting Quebec City they will make stops in ports in Ontario and the Maritimes.  The Rendez-vous Tall Ships Regatta will sail to places like Lunenburg, Pictou, Sydney, Port Hawkesbury , Halifax, SHelburne and Digby. There will also be an evening sail past in the Annapolis Basin and the Tall Ships Festival will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia from July 28th to August 2nd. The famous Blue Nose II is expected to participate.

The Inuvik Tuktoyaktuk Highway

The Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk Highway is under construction as a road link to the Arctic Ocean Shoreline of the Northwest Territories and on schedule for opening in 2017. This is the first such road and it will run from Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk (popn.950) over a distance of 137km. The highway is being built across a challenging landscape that is usually only open to  vehicles in the winter, on an iceroad.

For all of 2017, the Parks Canada Discovery Pass will give users unlimted opportunities to enjoy National Parks, National Marine Conservation Areas and National Historic sites across the country. When making an online order for your pass it is only necessary to specify one pass per group or family. It is valid for everyone arriving in one vehicle. The Discovery Pass is only accepted at National historic sites operated by Parks Canada.

Chaudiere Falls Ambient Light Show

From  late September to early November 2017, Chaudiere Falls in Ottawa on the Ottawa River will be lit up with an ambiant light show that will be accompanied by a rich soundscape intended to highlight Algonquin Heritage. Production Company Moment Factory will consult with local Indigenous leaders and artists on how the project will be presented and completed.

Canadian History Hall

The new Canadian History Hall at the Canadian Museum of History is considered to be one of the largest and most comprehensive exhibitions on Canadian History ever developed. It will present the story of Canada and its people more inclusively and candidly than ever before. Three main galleries will be connected by a hub at the centre of the exhibition space. Some of the highlights include 18 chapters  that tell the story of Canada, 65 interactive elements, 75 maps, 100 digital productions, 1800 artifacts and more.

Kontinuum Underground Multi Media Experience

This multimedia experience will be staged within one of the stations being built for Ottawa's new light rail transit system, due to open in 2018. Visitors will descend into the unfinished Lyon Station and be presented with  a state of the art multimedia projections that will transport them into the future. Each visitor will have a lanyard that can be swiped in several sections of the installation, leading to different experiences.

Maple Leaf Forever

This artefact rich exhibition at the Market Gallery in Toronto will explore how Torontonians have helped shape the maple leaf as Canada's leading national symbol over the the past 150 years. From the Prince of Wales' visit to Toronto just prior to Confederation to the composition of "The Maple Leaf Forever", Torontonians forged close associations between the mapel leaf as an icon and a source of identity in the 19th Century.
