Spotlight on Hong Kong Tourism Board

1) How long have you been in your current role?

3 years in May!

2) How long have you been in the travel industry?

5 incredibly dynamic years.

3) In your past professional life, you were …

Cutting my teeth at a fast-paced PR agency. It was the perfect boot camp for learning how to tell a story that actually sticks. Agency life taught me how to juggle a million moving parts, it's where I learned that a great campaign is 50% strategy and 50% sheer hustle.

4) What is something you love about working with travel media?

The collaborative process of creating a unique and compelling story. Everyone experiences travel so differently, and I love seeing a familiar destination through a fresh lens. We create some really interesting and fun itineraries, but I love it when writers find stories outside of the itinerary, the hole in the wall noodle shop or the stories you wouldn't find unless you lived them. That is what makes travel so enriching.

5) What are your professional pet peeves?

Surface-level storytelling. Hong Kong has so many unique and interesting layers, so it's tough when it is reduced to a generic 'top 10' listicle. Finding the balance between the 'must-dos' and the genuine, on-the-ground stories is what actually makes a piece of content stick.

6) What has been your most memorable press trip?

Being part of the team that sent MasterChef Australia to Hong Kong. It was a mammoth project with so many moving parts, but seeing it all come together was incredibly rewarding. As a food connoisseur myself, it was amazing to be surrounded by such a talented group of people and see Hong Kong's culinary scene get the spotlight it deserves.

7) What is your favourite place to travel?

Greece for its food and people, and of course, Hong Kong, no trip to Hong Kong is ever the same, there is always something new and exciting to explore.
