How long have you been with Tourspain?
I've been with Tourspain (Spain Tourist Board) since April 1998—no April Fools' joke—so nearly 28 years showcasing Spain as a destination.
How long have you been in the travel industry?
I officially started in the travel industry when I joined Tourspain, with no prior roles in the sector.
What originally drew you to the travel industry?
It was my experience working summers in Salou during university — one of Spain's most famous tourist resorts. Being surrounded by visitors from around the world made tourism feel natural, so joining Tourspain was an obvious next step.
In your past professional life, you were…
In my past professional life, I worked in a bank and a family-run supermarket chain, which taught me the value of customer service, operations, and building strong relationships.
What is something you love about working with travel media?
I love how sophisticated and worldly travel journalists are—they're passionate about discovering new cultures and people. Joining them on press trips makes every experience incredibly enriching and memorable!
What are your professional pet peeves?
What has been your most memorable press trip?
My most memorable press trip was hosting the Chevrolet Cruze media presentation in Spain around 2008. It drew top international and local media, but mid-event, GM announced their impending bankruptcy—turning a glamorous launch into a masterclass in crisis management and adaptability.
What is your favorite place to travel?
Spain—our country's cultural and regional diversity sparks an insatiable desire for more. Last year, for instance, 10% of US travelers to Spain had visited more than 10 times; Visiting Spain is truly addictive!
