Q. Where are you based? Sydney, Australia

Q. What outlet do you write for? Who is your audience? What are your travel specialties? I'm the Editorial Director at Signature Media, overseeing content and creative direction for Signature Luxury Travel & Style, Vacations & Travel, Holidays with Kids, Caravan & Camping with Kids, and the newly repositioned Ski & Snowboard. The publications' titles speak for themselves. 

Q. What are your professional pet peeves? As an editor, clumsy writing. As a writer, clumsy editing. 

Q. In your past professional life, you were … I started my working life in the late 1990s in the music industry, running an electronic / dance music label. I helped bring tunes such as "Free" by Ultra Nate, "God is a DJ" by Faithless, and "Silence" by Delerium to Australian ears. 

Q. Where would you like to return to? I love Italy, it's got everything: fantastic food, culture, history, beauty, nature, style, climate. I haven't visited in several years and that really does need to be remedied, rather urgently. 

Q. What's on your bucket list? Still haven't managed to swim with whale sharks or hang out with gorillas. I'd planned a trip to Rwanda to experience the latter in early 2020, but certain global events got in the way. 

Q. Where do you travel for fun? For pure beachside indolence, the Maldives. 

Q. Your funniest (or most harrowing) travel story is … Diving into a swarm of bluebottles (a.k.a. Portuguese man o' war jellyfish) on my final swim before flying home from the Maldives. A painful vinegar-scented air journey ensued, followed by a couple of months' itchy discomfort. 

Q. What advice would you give your younger professional self? Don't be shy: Just ask. Applies to all manner of professional and personal situations. 

Q. What nugget would you like to add that we haven't touched on? Providing questions in advance of an interview spoils the spontaneity. An interview should be a natural conversation, not something recited from a rehearsed script.
